haemorrhoids treatment
Bleeding hemorrhoid most common treatment?

My husband has a hemmorhoid (External,i believe) and it has gotten a small slit in the middle that is bleeding. I am taking him to the doctor tomorrow, but was wondering can anyone give me a good idea of what to expect there.Especially what kind of treatment we might be looking at. Also would surgery even have to be on the table right now, we really don’t want to do anything that extreme yet. Any Answers are appreciated.

Prevent further damage on his external anal sphincter by:
*avoiding constipation (eat fiber rich foods such as oat meal, drink extra fluid such as water and prune juice)
*avoid foods that may cause constipation
*avoid straining during defecation and avoiding too much friction during washing of the area
*sit on a doughnut-shaped cushion to avoid direct pressure on the anus

Provide temporary relieve by:
*sitting on a warm water (steam)
*or apply ice
*too much pain- can take mild analgesics but non opioids because it causes constipation

if it is too painful and damaged, the doctor may suggest an operation, hemorrhoidectomy. it is a short procedure done in an OPD or in a minor surgery suit. the patient may go home afterwards. god bless.

haemorrhoids treatment
treatment for the bowel cancer or colon cancer & haemorrhoids?

Once the diagnosis has been confirmed by biopsy, the clinical stage of the cancer is assigned. Using the characteristics of the primary tumor, its depth of penetration through the bowel, and the presence or absence of regional or distant metastases, the stage of the cancer is derived. Often, the depth of penetration through the bowel or the presence of regional lymph nodes can’t be assigned before surgery.

With many cancers other than colon cancer, staging plays an important pre-treatment role to best determine treatment options. In colon cancer, almost all colon cancers are treated with surgery first, regardless of stage. Colon cancers through stage III, and even some stage IV colon cancers, are treated with surgery first before any other treatments are considered.

Surgery

Surgical removal of the involved anatomic segment of colon (colectomy) along with its blood supply and regional lymph nodes is the primary therapy for colon cancer. Usually, on the basis of the blood supply, the partial colectomies are separated into right, left, transverse, or sigmoid. The removal of the blood supply at its origin along with the regional lymph nodes that accompany it assures an adequate margin of normal colon on either side of the primary tumor. When the cancer lies in a position such that the blood supply and lymph drainage lies between two of the major vessels, both vessels are taken to assure complete radical resection or removal (extended radical right or left colectomy). If the primary tumor penetrates through the bowel wall, any tissue adjacent to the tumor extension is also taken if feasible.

Radiation

Radiation therapy is used as an adjunct to surgery if there is concern about potential for local recurrence post-operatively and the area of concern will tolerate the radiation. For instance, if the tumor invaded muscle of the abdominal wall but was not completely removed, this area would be considered for radiation. Radiation has significant dose limits when residual bowel is exposed to it because the small and large intestine do not tolerate radiation well.

Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is useful for patients who have had all identifiable tumor removed and are at risk for recurrence (adjuvant chemotherapy). Chemotherapy may also be used when the cancer is stage IV and is beyond the scope of regional therapy, but this use is rare.-

haemorrhoids piles

It’s been said that if it wasn’t for haemorrhoids, Napoleon Bonaparte might have won the Battle of Waterloo.

He suffered a lot from haemorrhoids and that morning was very constipated and in great pain. So he left the battlefield and sat in a bath all morning to relieve the pain.

In the afternoon he rejoined his army and began the famous battle.

Unfortunately for him conditions had changed to advantage the British and he lost – which must have been an even bigger pain in the backside for him.

Haemorrhoids have been around throughout history, back to the days of Hippocrates. It is believed he created the word to describe the flow of blood from the veins of the anus.

The word haemorrhoid is derived from the Greek ‘haeme” (blood) and “rhoos” (flowing). It is only used in the plural.

But it’s a pain of a word as well as a painful condition.

I’m using the old fashion version of its spelling – haemorrhoids – because I’m an old fashioned classical type.

Many people nowadays spell it as hemorrhoids. There’s even an increased usage of hemroids.

But did you know that this silly word that only comes in the plural has at least 12 other versions of spelling? My oath that is a wacko word.

There is a way to avoid the word. It was developed over the years by working class people to describe the condition, probably because they could not spell haemorrhoids. They called it “piles”.

Nowadays piles is accepted as meaning the same thing as haemorrhoids or whichever way you spell it.

So the easy way is to say piles, but the pain of the condition is still there.

Interesting though that the word piles also stays only in the plural.

Hemorrhoids – How Long Does It Take To Go Away? Hardly the most comfortable conversational piece, even with a buddy, and definitely not the most comfortable to endure.

A royal pain in the butt (pun intended), hemorrhoids are also known as hemroids or the more colloquial piles. They are basically a bunch of anal blood vessels that have become inflamed and swollen.

By classification, there are two types of hemorrhoids, internal and external. Internal hemorrhoids, which are sited in the anal canal, are usually neither visible nor painful. However, prolapsed internal hemorrhoids may unexpectedly develop. Passing motion may push them out of the rectum, resulting in a rather painful condition. Sometimes, it may not be possible to push them back into the anal canal.

External hemorrhoids are usually found on the rim of the anus. Appearing near the anal rim, they occur as brownish lumps. Of the two categories, their external location tends to result in more friction and therefore more pain. Bleeding and itchiness commonly accompany the pain. Like the internal version, when bllod clots develop, they may also deteriorate into thrombosed hemorrhoids.

Regardless of how long do hemorrhoids last, the common symptoms are:

  • Swollen protrusions with mucus discharge from the anus
  • Pain and discomfort when passing motion
  • Sensation that the bowels are not fully cleared
  • Bleeding of bright red blood

Researchers estimate that at least 50% of people worldwide suffer from hemorrhoids at some point in their lives. Due to the anatomical location of the condition, obtaining precise data is often not possible because of patients’ reticence. Sufferers, especially men, tend to avoid discussing it even with their family doctor.

How long do hemorrhoids last? Typically 3 to 4 days. Without medication, some conditions will disappear but more serious conditions can persist for weeks and must not be ignored. So, a quick look at what can be done is called for.

The pharmacist at the local pharmacy may recommend any of the various OTC (over the counter) medications. Online health stores also offer several remedies. Do not take it too easily. If there is no visible improvement after several weeks, see a doctor immediately.

So how long do hemorrhoids last after you visit a doctor? Recovery times will vary depending on the exact form of treatment.

Ligation treatment is typically effective within a week to ten days. With the use of special rubber bands, blood supply is cut off from the hemroids to starve and destroy it.

Infrared coagulation treatment can take 3 to 4 weeks to recover from. This involves the use of an infrared device to coagulate the blood in the hemroid.

Hemorrhoidectomy, a surgical procedure used in the most severe cases, may take several weeks to recover from.

For those who feel that it is just too embarrassing to see a doctor, there are various natural remedies to consider. H Miracle is one such product.
