Hemorrhoids are an uncomfortable and embarrassing fact of life for millions of people around the world, particularly the middle-aged and elderly living relatively sedentary lives. Hemorrhoid treatment can vary from topical ointments to surgical intervention, depending on the severity of the case. Western medicine often concerns itself primarily with targeting the symptoms, and not paying much attention to the contributing factors. Thankfully, the condition can often be prevented with a few precautions.

Hemorrhoids, also known as Piles, are enlarged veins that protrude inside the rectum. They can cause a painful, burning sensation in the rectum, discomfort in sitting, and make bowel movements an unpleasant affair. It is estimated that up to 85% of the elderly population of North America require hemorrhoids treatment at some point. They are often caused by extensive sitting and standing, straining while having a bowel movement as a result of constipation, lifting of heavy objects in such a way as to cause undue strain in the rectum, and possibly be hereditary.

Hemorrhoids Treatment

There is a wide variety of hemorrhoids treatment available today, from the standard Western medical approach to naturapath holistic methods. Each has its own level of risk, cost and effectiveness. Here is an overview:

Medical Hemorrhoids Treatment

The most common treatment is a topical cream which reduces swelling. There are various brand names available over-the-counter, and some prescription only creams. More invasive methods include cryogenic freezing, called ‘scelerotherapy’, done by injecting directly into the hemorrhoid. Another surgical method is to apply a rubber band ligature, which cuts off the circulation and then they either fall off or are cut out.

Acupuncture Hemorrhoids Treatment

Acupuncture is a healing method which has been practiced in China for thousands of years. Acupuncture affects the central nervous system, and works by focusing on the general health and immune system of the patient, rather than on specific symptoms. Acupuncture hemorrhoids treatment can be quite effective.

Herbal Hemorrhoids Treatment

When using an herbal treatment, it is best to begin by having a warm soak in a bath or sitz bath. Adding epsom salts can help reduce swelling. The Japanese Pagoda tree has properties that are believed to strengthen vein walls, and improve circulation. Bioflavonoids and Horse chestnut are also known to have positive effect. After the bath, ointment containing the herbs can be applied topically directly to the affected area and left overnight.

Diet Considerations

When it comes to finding an effective hemorrhoids treatment, there is none better than focusing directly on diet. This is because they are often caused by straining during constipation, and constipation is a direct result of poor diet. Rule number one is: drink plenty of water. Most Americans are chronically dehydrated, and not even aware of it. Second rule is to eat a diet high in fibre. Great sources of fibre are psyllium seeds, beets, green beans, cabbage, citrus fruits and oats. Any high vegetable diet will do. Also highly effective is to take one to two tablespoons of flax seed oil daily, and drink mild chamomile tea, a natural regulator. In cases of extreme constipation, laxatives can help but they mustn’t be taken on an ongoing basis.

The best method of hemorrhoids treatment is to pay careful attention to the diet, and be sure to eat plenty of fibre and drink plenty of water. Use herbal remedies and soothing baths to ease immediate symptoms, but in the long run it is a healthy diet that will be the most effective hemorrhoids treatment you can have.

As you probably know, hemorrhoids can be quite a hard condition to take care of by yourself especially if you are overweight, constipated, or, if you are a female, pregnant.Fortunately, numerous ways exist of treating hemorrhoids and it’s vital that you know of them so you can treat your hemorrhoids correctly.

Roughly ten million people in the U.S. have hemorrhoids and about three-fourths of the population will get them at some point in ther lives.Although hemorrhoids are very common, there are also numerous methods for treating them.

Blood in the stool is a common symptom of hemorrhoids. The rectal veins start filling with blood to the point that they stick out.Hemorrhoids are more common in those people who have overweight problems or constipation.

If you feel a lot of itching down there, most likely you have inflamed hemorrhoids. To fix this, add plenty of fiber to your diet to make bowel movements easier on yourself. Here follow some useful ways of fighting hemorrhoids.

Usual Procedures – Treating Hemorrhoids

Diet – Changes in your diet are sometimes all you need to get rid of your hemorrhoids for good.Make sure to include more vegetables and fresh fruits in your diet.Help your bowel movements by eating more fruits and vegetables.Sufficient amounts of fruits like watermelon, apples, and peaches will help you alongside vegetables.

Sitz Bath – Warm water can be helpful in bringing relief to the pain. You can either have a seat that is set on top of your toilet or you can take a bath on the tub.

Products – There are many natural treatments that claim to cure your hemorrhoids and help to stop them from returning.Venapro, Avatrol, and Phytome are some of these products.

Surgery – When the hemorrhoids are very severe and can’t be treated effectively using natural remedies, then a hemorrhoid surgery could be the best option. The type of surgery that you get will depend on your specific condition.

Home Remedies and Natural Treatments for Constipation

Natural treatments for constipation are not only easy to use and highly effective, but they support good bowel health overall. As this simple condition that is experienced by many can often lead to other more complicated issues further down the line, such as a weakened immune system, hemorroids, and toxic fecal impaction, it is enormously important that constipation be avoided at all costs. However, when constipation does occur, natural treatments are the most effective, safest way of relieving this condition.

A key component of good health is having a healthy bowel movement daily. In situations in which this doesn’t occur, it can often be a case in which the constipation is driven by less than conducive lifestyle habits. Constipation is generally defined as a person having a bowel movement between zero and three times per week.

When a person who is experiencing constipation finally does have a bowel movement, the stool is usually painful or uncomfortable in passing. The stool is also typically hard, dry and is expelled in small pieces. Even though a bowel movement may have occurred, this condition usually is linked to a bowel that is not completely emptied, which again will bring about further tummy and anal discomfort.

Although constipation is most often caused by a poor diet and poor lifestyle choices, other conditions, such as pregnancy, aging, hypothyroidism, irritable bowel syndrome, laxative abuse, certain medications, and a habit of purposely avoiding bowel movements may cause constipation. While over the counter and traditional medical interventions do well to address the condition, they are not without risk of side effects, nor do such treatments address the root cause of this condition. On the other hand, natural treatments for constipation help in addressing the symptoms, as well as help in correcting the lifestyle imbalances that originally caused the constipation.

Eating foods that are high in fiber is one of the best, most obvious ways of naturally treating constipation. Even though this may seem quite east to get on top off and carry out, many of us do not consume nearly enough fiber each day within their diet. To correct this, those prone to constipation should increase their intake of foods high in fiber, such as apples, peaches, flaxseed, oatmeal, bananas, whole grain foods and other fresh vegetables. They should also increase their fluid intake by drinking water, unsweetened fruit juices, and vegetable juices.

By supplemeting with certain foods, there are also other foods that should be utterly avoided. Some of these include processed sugar, processed flour, fast food, caffeine, alcohol, cheese, and meat. As often as you can, the foods mentioned should be replaced with foods that are high in fiber, or better yet completely removed from the diet.

Regular exercise is also crucial in maintaining a healthy bowel and treating constipation. Daily exercise that involves at least 30 minutes of movement is helpful in increasing circulation and optimizing intestinal function. Daily walking, jogging, yoga, tai chi and other mild to moderate exercise is recommended.

By treating constipation naturally, a person is able to, not only correct the bad habits that led to the original bout of constipation, but can safely avoid its recurrence. Natural treatments for constipation have been safely and effectively used for generations to treat this common discomfort and are completely without risk or side effects. In making simple diet and lifestyle changes, constipation can be corrected, as a host of other conditions can also be avoided in the process.

Hemorrhoids or piles are an unbearable skin infection that occurs around the anus and lower rectum and appears swollen and inflamed. Based on the degree of infection there are various treatments that can be pursued either clinically or through natural or home remedies.

For people who have failed in obtaining relief from hemorrhoid pain even after application of several creams, pills, suppositories, and ointments can probably go for natural treatments which will not cause any side effects to the users. There are plenty of natural and herbal treatments that are available in the market.

Fiber plays a vital role in relieving hemorrhoid pain and bleeding. It helps in softening the stool and enables proper bowel movements. High fiber intake will assist the person to reduce his hemorrhoidal itching and uneasiness. Fiber can be obtained in various forms and mostly by eating rich fibrous food items like fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, pulses etc. In addition to the natural resources there are various supplements that provide fiber and are easily affordable. Psyllium is a powdered supplement and it is diluted with water before consuming. Drinking surplus water and doing regular exercises can also help you to control hemorrhoid symptoms.

Bioflavonoid – These are a kind of plant compounds that will help in stabilizing and strengthening blood vessel walls and reduce inflammation. These will also decrease anal uneasiness, ache, and anal discharge during an acute haemorrhoid infection. Most flavonoids are found in citrus fruits, diosmin, hesperidins and oerutins. Calmovil is the natural hemorrhoid reliever and this will enable proper blood flow and dissolve blood clots inside hemorrhoids. Calmovil is made from herbs and plants that contain bioflavonoid which can be consumed in capsule forms.

White Oak Bark – White Oak Bark is also known as natural aspirin as it serves to relieve hemorrhoidal pain. The ingredients that are present in white oak are tannin and quercin along with plenty of calcium, manganese, potassium and magnesium. This helps in strengthening the capillaries, veins and stops internal bleeding.

Witch Hazel cream – Witch Hazel cream contains procyanadins, resin, and flavonoids, which acts like an anti-inflammatory and aids in soothing hemorrhoid pains. This medicine is made from a plant called Hamamelis virginiana and is available in liquid form, ointments, or medicated pads. This can be applied on the infected anal region to reduce pain and itching of hemorrhoids.

Stone Root – This is used to minimize back pressure in veins and thus prevent the formation of hemorrhoids and varicose veins.

Butcher’s Broom – This plant has been used for hemorrhoidal remedies from ancient times and it motivates the proper circulatory system to treat varicose veins. Butcher’s Broom acts as an anti-inflammatory and vein-constricting agent which will enhance tone and integrity of veins and shrink the hemorrhoids. This is available in capsule or tea form and is recommended as the best natural remedy for thrombosis.

Cayenne – This has long traditional usage that increases the blood flow and helps in removing waste materials from the body in a quick manner. Thus motivates the bowel movement and prevents hemorrhoids.

Horse Chestnut – This is a plant and the extract is available in the form of capsules or tea. It can be applied topically as a compress and will result in relieving haemorrhoid symptoms like swelling and inflammation and strengthen blood vessel walls.

Bitter guard and Neem – The juices of the fresh leaves of these plants are the best for healing piles. If raw juice is very hard to gulp, then it is fine to mix it with buttermilk to consume it daily in morning hours.

Ginger – Ginger extracts have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor properties that effect cell tissues and improve blood circulation. It also acts as a natural body cleanser.

What are hemorrhoids? Well, for many people they are a real pain in the backside, that’s for sure. But to be more precise, Hemorrhoids refer to swellings and inflammation of veins that are located in the rectum and anus.

They are actually mass of tissues infused with blood vessels which if not attended to on time will cause itching, bleeding and in extreme cases severe pain. The bowel movements are hampered and the patient goes through a lot of discomfort.

What Causes Hemorrhoids

Besides knowing what hemorrhoids are, if you want to get rid of them, it is essential to know what causes them. The primary cause is constipation. This anomaly is particularly evident in women, as a fall out of water retention during menstruation. Excessive exertion from bowel movement is therefore a primary cause.

Hypertension is another major reason, which strains the link between the vena cava and the portal vein in the rectal wall. Obesity, prolonged sitting, poor posture and muscle tone that create undue pressure in the rectal area will lead to hemorrhoids. Pregnant women with hypertension are prone to it. Consumption of caffeine and even alcohol can help cause it.

Hemorrhoids Misdiagnoses

Hemorrhoids must not be confused with fistulae or fissures though they exhibit similar symptoms. Hemorrhoids are normally temporary and not fatal. They disappear through proper treatment. The symptoms too are not always apparent. You may notice blood in your stools and sense itching and pain. In such a case of ‘thrombosed hemorrhoids’, the patient will find a stiff lump in the anus.

The Importance of Healthy Diet and Exercise

Vitamin E deficiency and lack of fluid along with excess intake of dairy products are responsible for hemorrhoids. However ‘probiotic’ food like yogurt may prevent inflammation. Since internal hemorrhoids occur inside the rectum and are not painful, the patient may not even be aware of it. However irritation may cause it to bleed.

By exercising, increasing fluid and fiber intake, and correcting posture one can prevent hemorrhoids. Use of laxatives and wearing of tight underwear will aggravate the condition. Women should increase their intake of fluids and dietary fiber just before menstruation. The use of squat toilets also brings relief.

Approach to hemorrhoids varies from person-to-person and even culture-to-culture. To many, hemorrhoids are temporary. Mild and homely treatments are enough. Bidet, warm bath, analgesic are used for relief.
In the case of external hemorrhoids a warm compress can be applied which causes the rectal area to relax. Treating Hemorrhoids, in the early stages, with medicated cream proves beneficial. You might want to avoid steroid preparations, as they may aggravate the condition. The affected area should be kept dry and clean with adequate lubrication. Suppositories will also help.

Natural or herbal remedies should be tried under proper guidance to avoid drug interaction. Use of horse chestnut, witch hazel, aloe vera, Japanese pagoda plant extracts, and honey has proved to be effective. Consumption of plantain, seed husks, chamomile tea is encouraged for soft stool. Surgical treatments for Hemorrhoids include ‘Galvanic electrotherapy, rubber band ligation, sclerotherapy, cryosurgery etc.

Just knowing the answer to the question, what are hemorrhoids is not enough. A thorough knowledge of its causes is essential if one intends to avoid it.

You may have them but you may not know how to spot hemorrhoids symptoms.

Most symptoms are easy to recognize but they can be unnerving when you first see them because in today’s society there are so many things we have been told to watch out for, especially where bleeding is concerned. This can be one symptom of hemorrhoids.

The most common symptoms that people experience are an itching or burning sensation in the anus after bowel movements, pain in the rectum or bleeding during bowel movements.

Usually the bleeding can be present when you wipe, in your underwear or in your stool or urine. Remember that from a hemorrhoid this normally happens after a bowel movement.

There are two ways that you can experience a hemorrhoid — internally and externally. When it is external it is easier to treat than when it is internal, depending on the type that presents itself.

An individual may experience more symptoms when the hemorrhoids are internal. Internal symptoms may include:

Itching – This can be most annoying because it is not an itch that can immediately be taken care of because it is internal. Most people will experience this a few minutes after a bowel movement and may need to apply a special cream to get relief. The reason it itches is because the hemorrhoids will seep mucus which irritates the skin around the hemorrhoid.

Skin irritation – When the skin around the hemorrhoid becomes inflamed it will cause an irritation to the skin around it. If the hemorrhoids are large ones and protrude from the anus they can also cause irritation.

Discomfort – After a bowel movement you may feel like you are going to have another one right away. This can be caused by the protruding of the hemorrhoid at the end of the large intestine. Usually the larger the hemorrhoid the more discomfort you may feel.

Pain – The internal hemorrhoids will cause the most painful hemorrhoids symptoms because they swell and can be squeezed by the muscles that control the anus. This can be mild to extreme pain depending on the situation. If the pain is extreme it may mean that the blood supply to the anus is cut off and therefore in need of an emergency procedure.

Situations That Increase The Risk Of Having Hemorrhoids Symptoms

There are several situations that may increase your risk of experiencing hemorrhoids. These can include persistent constipation or diarrhea, being overweight, being over 50 or having a history of hemorrhoids in the family.

For some women, pregnancy can also cause problems with hemorrhoids because the blood volume or pressure in the pelvic blood vessels can increase in the last six months as the women moves towards delivery. If she strains during delivery this can also make them happen.

Also standing or sitting a long time can make hemorrhoids worse or lifting heavy objects while holding your breath. This can create pressure in the anus and can be a major cause of hemorrhoids.

This article explores internal hemorrhoids symptoms. Hemorrhoids are not something you want to encounter. However, it is reported that over 50% of all people will get them at some point in their lives. This medical condition, sometimes referred to as “piles,” occurs when veins become dilated or bulging in the rectum or anus.

Your anal walls are covered in blood vessels and a super-intersection of veins. Any pressure on these walls can result in a vein that becomes inflamed or enlarged, thus producing a hemorrhoid. The pressure weakens the muscles of the wall, and what’s left is a sac-like protuberance.

The above is what’s known as an internal hemorrhoid. Often times, it is difficult to tell if you’re suffering from one of these hemorrhoids. The protrusion is not often noticeable, nor is the affliction always painful, such as we see with an extruding hemorrhoid or one that has become thrombosed.

Internal hemorrhoids symptoms are varied, and sometimes they’re all present; and as one could imagine, sometimes none are present. Each hemorrhoid case is different and depends on how the afflicted body handles the strained and stressful vein.

Easy-to-Spot Internal Hemorrhoids Symptoms

The first symptom of an internal hemorrhoid is something that almost every person in life has dealt with on occasion: Anal itching. Now, don’t get alarmed if you’re experiencing the strange sensation of an anus itch as you read this; not all anal itching is synonymous with a hemorrhoid. However, that doesn’t mean you should exclude it either.

Itching can be caused by a dirty anus; perhaps toilet paper remnants or some un-cleaned stool remain to cause the itching. It can also be caused by various soaps and detergents. But as itching persists, the odds that you suffer from an internal hemorrhoid are likely. This itching will feel as if it’s taking place within the anus, and not around the inside of your buttocks.

Incomplete bowel movements are also a sign of an internal hemorrhoid. Again, not all incomplete bowel movements are a surefire sign of anything bad – they can be attributed to bad dietary habits, i.e. not enough fiber and too much fat. But persistent and sometimes uncomfortable bowel movements that remain incomplete (as if you can still feel the stool inside of you) are most likely the sign of an internal hemorrhoid.

A small amount of blood, either in your stool or on the toilet paper is an internal hemorrhoids symptom as well. The bleeding here, though not profuse, will be noticeable in your stool and unmistakable in its nature. Blood from a hemorrhoid is bright red – not dark red – and appears to be fresh as if it just occurred. This is simply the blood that excretes from the vein, and is not a sign of any harmful medical condition other than the hemorrhoid. So don’t freak out; bleeding is a normal sign of an internal hemorrhoid.

These first-degree hemorrhoids are not prolapsed, meaning they do not extrude out of your anus. If they were to protrude, however, you would be experiencing an external hemorrhoid.

At first glance it may appear surprising how problems like constipation, hard stools, strained bowel movements and sedentary lifestyles can lead to the initially innocuous seeming Thrombosed hemorrhoids which later can turn chronic and severe. These types of hemorrhoids can result in heavy bleeding and tremendous pain.

What are Thrombosed Hemorrhoids?

Hemorrhoids are also referred to as piles and they may be internal or external. In Layman’s terms, thrombosed hemorrhoids are simply external hemorrhoids which lie outside the anal opening. Hemorrhoids which develop inside the anal canal are called internal hemorrhoids. They lie beneath the lining of the anus or the rectum inside the anal canal, or the lower rectum.

External or thrombosed hemorrhoids are multitudes of veins which lie underneath the skin at the opening of the anus and thus are outside the anus canal. When the external hemorrhoid develops a blood clot, the area around the opening of the anus canal gets inflamed and a painful lump can form.

The majority of the symptoms associated with hemorrhoids are caused by these external piles. There may be burning, itching or bleeding symptoms and quite often they are very painful. Blood on your toilet tissues or in your stools may be indicative of hemorrhoids. These types of symptoms should immediately be addressed as they show that the hemorrhoids have really become engorged with blood.

Sometimes, piles can cause heavy bleeding leading to severe blood loss. So, hemorrhoids should be treated at the first sign and not left to chance. Pain in your bowel movements is also a symptom of thrombosed hemorrhoids. If you can feel tender lumps near the anus or have problems in sitting down, chances then there is a chance that you have developed hemorrhoids.

How do You Know if Hemorrhoids are Thrombosed

External hemorrhoids develop slowly and gradually and the elderly most often get afflicted with this ailment. However, by no means is it restricted to the elderly. Amongst the elderly, this complaint is often related to complications of the colon and the GI tract. However, factors like continuous sitting without getting up, previous complications during childbirth in the past, and changes in the bowel movements are not to be ruled out in the development of hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids can greatly diminish your quality of life due to the discomfort and pain caused by it and if left untreated for too long, it can turn debilitating for the sufferer.

Many a time, external hemorrhoids take care of themselves with the body reabsorbing and shrinking the tissue. But, if external means are to be sought, then taking care of hemorrhoids in the holistic way by means of proper diet and exercise and natural remedies is are options that should be closely considered.

In cases, where even this fails, surgery known as hemorrhoidectomy might be the only choice left and this involves the removal of the clot and the thrombosed tissue. This is usually a fairly simple procedure and you should be able to return to his your normal activities within a few days.

Thrombosed hemorrhoids are common occurrences especially among more senior members of society, but by meeting it head on you can diminish its impact on your life greatly.

Hemorrhoids can be a very painful condition afflicting the rectum and anus and though people are embarrassed to talk about it, the fact is that it can turn very nasty.

Various treatments are recommended for this condition. Finding a natural cure for hemorrhoids might provide the best option if the condition is in its initial stages and can be more easily controlled. This web page gives information, tips and advice, to anyone who is looking to find these types of cures for hemorrhoids.

Many over-the-counter medicines promise instant relief and the catch is that they deliver exactly that; ‘instant’ relief but not a long-term solution. These medicines do not tackle the root cause of hemorrhoids but merely reduce the pain. Natural remedies and lifestyle changes are the best ways to tackle this problem.

Hemorrhoids and Your Bowel Movements

Since most hemorrhoids have their beginnings in constipation, having a diet rich in fibers and grains will encourage bowel movements and reduce constipation. This in turn will not give rise to those painful bumps on the anus which make sitting and passing stool so difficult. A healthy daily dose of fresh fruits and vegetables is essential to prevent constipation and in turn treating hemorrhoids.

Excessive alcohol consumption also is one of the culprits leading to constipation or worsening existing constipation. Avoiding or reducing the intake of alcohol is necessary to avoid constipation and existing mild hemorrhoids can be redressed. Caffeine can also worsen the hemorrhoids as caffeine dehydrates the body depriving it of fluids and thus aggravating constipation. Drinking plenty of fluids throughout the day is one type of natural cure for hemorrhoids.

Herbal Remedies for Hemorrhoids

Zenmed ziro and venapro are two natural treatments for hemorrhoids and these herbal remedies have been found to be very effective in healing hemorrhoids. Another natural cure for hemorrhoids is to include flavonoids in the diet. Flavonoids are found in many fruits and vegetables and are known to give relief from the pain, reduce inflammation and strengthen the veins.

A herbal remedy called the ‘butcher’s broom’ helps shrink the swollen tissues and provides relief from the pain. This can be made into an ointment by mixing it with tincture or powder and applying it to the affected area. Done in conjunction with the oral intake of butcher’s broom tea or capsules, it speeds up the healing process.

The reason many people form hemorrhoids is because of difficulty in passing stool which may be very hard. Taking Psyllium seeds daily will help soften the stool and improve the bowel movement. This will help the hemorrhoids to heal faster. Increasing the intake of beets and beet greens in the diet can also work wonders. Beets are rich in manganese, potassium and folate which reduce inflammation and its fiber reduces constipation.

The hydrotherapy method of sitting in a tub of warm water for 10-15 minutes thrice a day will tremendously help in easing the inflammation and pain. Warm water is therapeutic and the discomfort caused by hemorrhoids will lessen noticeably.

It is better to tackle this condition in the initial stages itself to prevent future surgery and finding a natural cure for hemorrhoids is very often the best course of action as it can be done by anyone simply by following certain dietary precautions and unlike in medicines, less side-effects, in fact there are generally no side effects at all.

Vaginal hemorrhoids are not common and many people think that they do not exist. Usually this can happen and it is normally during pregnancy that this can happen. Visit our hemorrhoids during pregnancy page for more information on dealing with hemorrhoids when you are pregnant.

Hemorrhoids are varicose veins that get protracted during the stress of a bowel movement. In pregnancy this can happen when blood vessels get overly swollen due to some type of strain from carrying the baby or from bowel movements.

When a woman is pregnant she may experience hemorrhoids that will make her uncomfortable. She would notice this because of an itchy or burning sensation in the vagina or rectum.

Because pregnancy can produce veins that are swollen because of the increased blood volume in the vagina some of the blood flow can be blocked from the rectum and the lower pelvis. Another example is when Rectoceles happens (bulging of front wall of the rectum into the vagina) and obstructs the veins that go into the wall of the rectum.

In any case this can be somewhat painful for the women experiencing the problem. There are two reasons why hemorrhoids can happen in pregnancy:

The uterus puts more pressure on veins that would normally bring back blood from the lower body and progesterone relaxes the vein walls. This creates a swelling in the lower half of the body and gravity adds to it. This creates the reason why a woman cannot stand for long periods and can cause the hemorrhoids.

The abdomen creates more pressure on the veins in the vagina because of the combination of the weight of the baby and constipation during pregnancy. This can create a hard bowel movement and make the veins protrude in the vagina or the anus.

In most cases doctors recommend that you keep your body regulated so that you have easy bowel movements to avoid hemorrhoids from happening. To do this you must eat a good diet of fruits and vegetables that are geared to keep you from constipation. Also, drinking plenty of water when you are pregnant will help keep things moving easily.

Treatment for Vaginal Hemorrhoids

Some of the best treatments for vaginal hemorrhoids are the same as for any other type:

Sitz Bath – Sitting in your bathtub in warm water can do wonders for your hemorrhoids providing that you can get into a tub. If you cannot get down into your tub there are plastic tubs that fit into your toilet for the purpose of helping ease the discomfort from hemorrhoids. You can ask at the pharmacy.

Witch hazel pads – Pads that contain with hazel can be perfect for helping with hemorrhoids. One brand name is called Tucks. These pads are an astringent which means they will help sooth the hemorrhoids and dry them.

If you suspect you have vaginal hemorrhoids it is a good idea to check with your physician before trying any of the remedies suggested for your vagina. The doctor may have a prescription that would work better or they will know something over the counter.
