What is the treatment of anal fissure (a cut or wound in anus or rectum) besides surgery.?

I have anal fissure for last two years. I feel severe pain and burning during and after bowel movement which remains from few minutes to few hours sometimes. I have applied several creams, ointments, herbal ointments but no benefit. I have also chronic constipation. I also eat vegetables, drink lots of water, take fibre but no benefit. Please help I shall pray for this forever.

I feel your pain- been there and it’s horrible. the constipation will unfortunately make you strain for bowel movements and will not help the area heal. Take laxatives to soften your stools because as long as the constipation is there the fissure will not get better. Keep using creams- prep H is a good one and can help soothe the area. I found baths helped a bit as did using lubricant when I had a bowel movement. I also used cold compresses on the affected area. Cold worked for me but I have heard that heat can also help. However, I would recommend seeing a doc. 2 years is a long time to suffer this and it must make you miserable- I remember crying over the pain sometimes and it really got me down.

Lump on My dogs Tail?

My 4 year old male Chihuahua has a lump on his bottom tail (near anal), that comes and goes. When I touch and squeeze a little, he does not seem to be under a lot of pain. However, it keeps on coming back. For example, last night the lump was almost gone and today, it was about a dime size. I am able to move the lump from side to side. My dog is a very active dog and today, he seemed to be very quiet and I notice that he was whimpering when he walked and had a bowl movement. He has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Insufficiency since he was 6 months old. Does anyone have a similar problem?

I would have your vet take a look, My first worry would be about some sort of anal gland issue- like an overfull gland- or an infected one, or- hope not- an anal gland tumor

rubber band ligation for hemorrhoid?

I had the procedure done a week ago. I was in some discomfort for a couple of days. However, now I havn’t seen it fall off, I don’t feel any pain there or discomfort. Is it possible the rubber band broke or fell off? I can still feel the roid slightly and it itches but not as bad as it used to. SHould I just be more patient or could there be something wrong? Thanks

This sounds more like a question for the doctor who performed the procedure. I don’t think any of us here are qualified to answer this question, we can only give opinions or personal experience. I’ve had this procedure done before, so I can certainly sympathize with the pain you’re in. I don’t remember ever seeing the band or hemorrhoid falling off, so it’s possible that it has already fallen off. But if you’re still concerned about it, you should contact your doctor. I had a follow up appointment to have it all checked out again, to make sure it fell off.

What effective ways can I get rid of my hemorrhoids quickly?

I have had hemorrhoids for years. My symptoms are/were bleeding when I defecated and liquid discharge (which I figure is water) after I’m done when I sit down and such. I used to use paper towels in my underwear to absorb the discharge and sometimes a lot of bleeding afterwards (sometimes even the next day). I do know it’s hemorrhoids.

It feels a little uncomfortable but the best way I found after the birth of my two children was a banana skin. Sounds yuck I know but it really does work. It takes away the burning, stinging and itching and the swelling goes down within about 30-40 minutes. Depending on their size, you may need to change the skin every hour or so.
