The line of Preparation H Products is fairly extensive and includes products such as ointments, creams, suppositories, gels, and wipes. All of the latter products are used for the successful treatment and care of hemorrhoidal conditions. Here we examine what Preparation H Hemorrhoidal Ointment contains, its beneficial uses, and any disadvantages associated with its use.
Ingredients:

Preparation H Ointment: at the time of writing this product contains four different active ingredients including:
14% Light Mineral Oil
71.9% Petrolatum
25% Phenylephrine HCl
3% Shark Liver Oil
The Phenylephrine contained within Preparation H ointment is considered a vasoconstrictor: this helps to minimize swelling of veins and capillaries, and therefore significantly reduces the inflammation, swelling, pain, and itchiness that an individual develops when he or she develops hemorrhoidal formations. This product can be successfully used to help shrink hemorrhoids, and to alleviate any significant anorectal discomfort.
It should be noted by the consumer that this product is meant for the treatment of the anorectal/intrarectal area only, and the product should not be used on other parts of the body, as it is not recommended for such use.
Product Use:
To use Preparation H ointment, one must clean the entire anal rectal area before the product can be used. The product can safely be applied to the region affected as many as four times per day, and the manufacturers of the product recommend that after each bowel movement the consumer use the product as well as in the morning and in the evening.
The product comes with a special applicator so that the consumer can treat the intrarectal area: however, some consumers may be rather uncomfortable with doing so. Preparation H suppositories are also used to treat the interior anorectal region, but again, there are individuals that we preferred to avoid the use of such products if at all possible to do so.
Some consumers prefer to take herbal remedies for hemorrhoid conditions rather than having to deal with ointments and/or creams, as are those offered in the product line like Preparation H. Suppositories and intrarectal ointments can be somewhat uncomfortable to apply for some individuals, and for other individuals the use of creams and suppositories is simply too problematic and bothersome. Preparation H products tend to deliver onto the consumer far faster results in terms of relief when treating hemorrhoidal conditions when compared to the relief one derives from the use of hemorrhoid herbal remedies.
Notes on the Use of Preparation H:
Children younger than the age of 12 and pregnant women should not use Preparation H unless otherwise advised by a qualified medical professional. Any individual that has health issues like hypertension, thyroid disorders, Diabetes, and/or heart disease should consult a physician before this product is utilized as well. This product may be safely use for a period of seven days for the treatment of hemorrhoids, but the consumer should note that if he or she does not experience any kind of relief after seven day’s time, it is again recommended that he or she visit a physician for an evaluation.
